Hello GRADUATE, here are all the details for the TAP - Travel Agent Professional Certification.
The TAP Certification or Travel Agent Professional Certification is awarded by Travel Agent Campus and is an examination that allows candidates to demonstrate to the industry and the general public that they have mastered the following and have completed the prerequisite courses:
• Overview of the Travel and Tourism Industry
• Geography and International Travel
• Using Technology
• Air Travel
• Ground Travel
• Making a Sale
• Specialized Sales
• Money Matters
• Home-Based Agents, Independent Contractors
• Finding Employment
• Building a Career
This certification is valid for 1 year from the date of successfully completing the exam.
All first time candidates receive a provisional certification upon passing the exam. Once the candidate can document at least 6 months of travel industry experience and has earned 10 continuing education units (CEUs) the candidate's certification will be transfered from provisional status to regular status.
RENEWAL & CEU's
This certification must be renewed before its 1 year expiration date by:
Successfully passing and paying for the exam, being in good standing with the industry, have earned a minimum of ten continuing education units (CEUs) per year to maintain their certification. CEU requirement is an effective way to master new skills, attain product knowledge, remain current on industry trends, and continue to develop your role as a travel professional.
This certification is awarded by Travel Agent Campus. Testing format is 100% online, 4-hour timed exam, 1 try only with a proctor (retests at a later date are available for $25), must score 80% or higher to pass. The exam is a proctored* exam consisting of 365 multiple-choice and true / false questions. *Proctor Requirements: An exam proctor is required for this exam. The proctor must be with you during your testing. The proctor is someone chosen by the candidate, and their responsibility is to be sure that the candidate isn’t using any books, notes or reference materials while testing. The proctor chosen should be a) over 21, b) not related to the candidate, c) not currently preparing to take the TAP certification themselves, d) currently in or from a professional career field.
SCHEDULING AND PAYMENT
EXAMINATION MUST BE SCHEDULED BY REGISTERING AND PREPAYING AT LEAST 5 BUSINESS DAYS PRIOR TO TESTING DATE.
Study the TCD - Travel Career Development (R) Textbook, especially the “Check-Up” sections throughout each chapter, Chapter “Wrap-Up” sections and “Review Questions” section at the end of each chapter.
Proctors must be with you during your testing and will provide the link to the exam as well as the password to unlock the exam. Make sure you tell the proctor that they need to stay with you for up to 4 hours.
TIMING OF THE EXAM
The TAP exam has a 4-hour time limit and should be taken in one sitting. Plan a time when you won’t be disturbed for that block of time. Upon completion of your exam, your exam will be graded, and you will be advised of your grade. You will need to keep track of your 4-hour time limit. Time is not displayed but we will have a time stamp on our end from when you began and ended the exam. If you go over your exam will be invalid and you will have to retest.
TAKING YOUR EXAM
Before taking your exam, make sure you are in an environment where you will not be disturbed. Your answers are saved as you submit each one, not at the end of the exam. This means you will not lose any work. Avoid using your browser back button as this will not work. Make sure you take your exam on the same date as your registration.
HOW TO AVOID BEING LOGGED OUT OF A EXAM:
Stay connected to the Internet during your exam. Do not click away from the exam until you have submitted your answers and finished the exam.
If your exam page freezes, you can always click refresh on your web browser and the exam will again load on the same question you were on. If your Computer or Web browser has a problem or they are closed, using the same web browser, re-open your web browser go to the link for the exam and you will be taken back to the last question you were on, where you will be able to resume your exam.
Your examination results will be displayed to you immediately. Your proctor’s user ID and password will be automatically deleted from the LMS once you have completed the exam. Your certificate will be emailed to you within 48 hours.
